Amongst quite dull SS12 collections this little gem shines.
It's where craftsmanship meets wearability that good fashion is born, and these amazing creations are the perfect example of this much needed balance.

Hand-dyed strands of fabric set to create patterns and define the silhouette of beautiful gowns; a romantic yet strong and somehow wild victorian traveller, replacing ruffled collars with african-inspired neck pieces.


Four collections down this sibling-led brand has already established its name among editors and buyers. Well deserved attention I may add.

Covers

I just came across the new AnOther Magazine cover for Autumn/Winter 2011.

Shot by Craig McDean and starring Rachel Weisz, this image is hauntingly beautiful.
From colour combination, to composition, to styling and make up, this photograph is simply perfect.

I haven't been so captivated by a cover since this...

... and now that I think about it it's not a very good thing, because the fact is that more often than not magazine covers don't live up to the expectations.

But there's exceptions, and amazing ones at that.

Party like it's the 90s

Dazed & Confused does the time warp for its September 2011 main editorial.

Mixing pieces from 2011 and 1991 collections the massive 3-in-1 editorial is shot by Kacper Kasprzyk and styled by Karen Langley, Robbie Spencer and Katie Shillingford.

Hussein Chalayan - The Art of Fashion

Since his graduate collection in 1993 Chalayan has produced some of the most inspiring art-led fashion collections.
His experimentations know no boundaries and his use and interpretation of technology, materials and shapes in his pieces have made him one of the most interesting designers of the last two decades.

HEDI SLIMANE

Because I needed a starting point and I couldn't think of a better one than my favourite photograph.

So here comes my first post.
It's about a man that as a designer changed men's fashion radically.
His androgynous and slender silhouette started a revolution in the way men dress and represent themselves, a wave most designers had to ride after him in order to keep up with the change Slimane had started.
Minimalism, black and white, youth, these were the main ingredients of his collections.

Then, at the top of his design career, he quit. In July 2007 he left Dior after 7 years and decided to focus on another passion: photography.
He brings his very strong and precise vision to his pictures the same way he imposed it in his collections: in black and white very sharp images.

And since an image says a thousand words, I'll let them speak.

So, to go back to the start, I'll close this post with a quote from an interview he did for syle.com
